Nathan (Badger) Atkins
Director, Head Coach, Cleaner
Nathan (Badger) Atkins has been passionate about fitness and exercise as far back as he can remember. He grew up a competitive middle-distance runner and played every sport he came across. Realizing that a base in strength and conditioning made a drastic improvement on his sport performance he took up the GYM at the age of 16. He went on to represent Canterbury (U21s) in Touch Rugby and compete in body building, shortly after he left New Zealand. He spent the next 10 years in South Korea and spent most of that time working/managing CrossFit GYMs. And was lucky enough to compete at the Asia Regionals. He has amassed a great knowledge by traveling Asia, America and having some of the best coaches from Europe visit Korea.
Having a Mother who battled with Diabetes and eventually losing her to Cancer in early 2018 has made Nathan even more dedicated to his cause of improving the health and lifestyle of anyone he is lucky enough to cross paths with.

Kyra
Coach
Kyra grew up in rural South Canterbury and spent most of her childhood trying to keep up with her older brother. She played soccer, netball, tennis, and excelled in athletics (sprinting and triple-jump at South Island level) during school, though ultimately ended up pursuing classical ballet and contemporary dance from the age of 6 – 21. A highlight of her dancing career was having the opportunity to dance and compete at gala shows over in Prague, as well as take classes from world renown teachers from London, Germany, and America. After retiring she spent several years without exercise in a sedentary 9-5 lifestyle, however realized that this was neither sustainable or enjoyable. She walked into the CrossFit gym in early 2018 and not only found the challenge, community, and enjoyment from the wide range of movement, but loved watching other people progress and improve their capabilities. She completed the Badger Coaching Apprenticeship in 2019 and loves helping people realize their strength and push their boundaries. Favourite CrossFit movement? Olympic lifting and wall balls.

Craig
Coach
Craig grew up In Glasgow, Scotland. Growing up, he was not particularly interested in sport or exercise, always assuming that some kids were just meant to be athletes, and some were not. As he got older, he would learn to challenge this, first by tackling the amateur boxing ring and then marathon distance running. Craig migrated to New Zealand in 2013, it was here that he would first discover CrossFit, a sport he was truly passionate about. Since then, Craig has embraced the challenge which CrossFit provides and has used it as a platform to push himself and others to discover what they are truly capable of, whilst being part of a likeminded community. In 2021, he undertook his two most noteworthy challenges: Riding an Assault bike for 48hrs for the mental health foundation and then completing 10 full rounds of Murph in 24hrs for Veterans charities. Craig joined the Badger community in late 2021 and immediately set the goal of becoming part of the gyms coaching staff.
